Improvement across the Power Rankings
The CBS Sportsline Power Ranking has not been kind to the Tigers this season, but today’s rankings update looks about where I’d currently put them: 11th, though I’d probably go Top 10.
The offense is dangerous, but it’s rookie Justin Verlander’s emergence that really helps the rotation. It will be the pitching that truly decides how long Jimmy Leyland’s club remains in the race this summer.
Yesterday, Sports Illustrated ranked them at 6th. I’m not buying the Cubs at 7th though.
