Guillen Tigers lone all-star
posted in 2008 predictions, All-Star Game |Carlos Guillen is the Tigers’ lone representative at the all star game, a far cry from last year’s five Tigers. Truth be told, it’s hard to make an argument for anyone else being on the team. Armando Gallaraga has pitched great but that was always going to be a long shot. Placido Polanco had to compete with some pretty decent second baseman, too. On the bright side, the players will get to rest and try to make up some of that distance in the A.L. Central.

First Inning sucks so far — I hope it’s not July as a replay of April.
Just got home and the Tigers scored. Clearly, my not watching the game was the cause of the woes. All will be good now.
4-2 Tigers.
I rest my case.
You actually could make a great case for Pudge being an all-star this year…he’s been crushing the ball lately (HR over the old fence in left tonight!) and Varitek has been absolutely pitiful this year.
This nonsense about handling pitching staffs they are using to justify the Varitek selection doesn’t even wash because both AJ Pierzynski and Pudge have been handling some very good pitching of late.
By the beard of Walt Terrell you’re right Kurt.
Joe — The reason A.J. didn’t make it is because pretty much everybody in the league hates the guy. And he does appear to be a jerk. I rest my case on the photo below:
