Joe,

Thanks. It's a good question right now!

Flying J,

On one hand, I don't want to trust a possible bitter former Tiger like Grilli. He could have an axe to grind. On the other hand, he's probably right. It's not that I think you need chemistry to win. I'm still of the believe winning makes good chemistry and losing makes bad chemistry. But I wonder about their drive.

Stacey,

It would probably work short term!

Glad to see another BSG fan out there...

How about this, let's just swap teams with Toledo for a week?

Kurt,

Very interesting article about Grilli and chemistry in the Freep today. And no not about him making the vinegar and baking soda volcano. I'd be interested in your comments.....

Thought you might get a kick out of this website; it cleverly parodies the Tigers' "Who's your Tiger"
campaign:

well, I wouldn't want Pudge to bat in the first 6 pretty much ever. Santiago and Inge pretty much provides your left side of the infield won't hit. One or the other is really all I'd hope play. And I know Santiago is hitting this season but for a full season, I dunno. Also Maybin and Miller weren't ready to play major league baseball and were both rushed.

Although the results so far, maybe your lineup would have more wins than the Tigers do, but over the course of the year I think you'd be trotting out an average, at best, team.

Just to be annoying.....would you be ok with the following lineup? Do you think it would be better than the team currently?

CF Grandy P Verlander
2B Polanco P Bondo
C Pudge P Jair Jurrjens
RF Maggs P Andrew Miller
DH Guillen P Rogers
1B Hessman
LF Rayburn/Maybin
3B Inge
SS Santiago

And we could have put Robertson as a reliever specialist. He seems to be able to get through three innings just FINE.

Annoying I know, but I think the above probably would just be better and Lords of Kobol knows they would have fielded the ball better than the current team.

I think if the Tigers aren't a contender -- and let's face it ... -- someone is going to want Pudge. Maybe Jones, because he's been in the world series and, lord knows if the Indians could find a taker for Bob Wickman, there's a market for Todd Jones. Then again what they got for him is a kid who is still in AA, so don't expect much.

Guillen's going to be around. He's owed too much. I doubt anyone wants Bondo either. Not for a trade deadline deal. And Verlander would seem more tradeable to his contract, but I really can't see the Tigers trading him.

I fear that something truly bizarre is going to come of all this. Can you imagine the potential trade bait if everything collapses? Bondo? Guillen? Pudge? Jones? All may look pretty good for a streaking contender.

I think they both realize the makeup of the team is not condusive to winning and something drastic is going to have to be done and want to be on the same page for the decision. As it is, this flawed team is going to be at best 500, at worst 400. They have to figure out the best move of whatever painful moves have to be made.

I was probably too harsh on Leyland earlier when I'm sure he's struggling with a poorly madeup team and doesn't have the power by himself to make the right moves. But I still don't like a lot of what he does.

In any case, I'm sure this meeting will lead to some interesting changes, or the Tigers will continue to be screwed.

Randy Johnson pitched average maybe even a little below...and we couldn't hit in the clutch...again. Same old theme. Nothing new to say here. One thing: what happened to Magglio? The guy seems to get on base but has been horrible in the clutch for about a month almost. Hey Mags, we have enough problems quit inventing more.
