Inge not wanted by the Dodgers, or Tigers fans
posted in 2008 Spring Training |We learned today that Brandon Inge isn’t wanted by the L.A. Dodgers, according to the L.A. Times. (Rotoworld link since LA Times wants you to log in).
I suppose it could be because they have a couple third baseman in camp who are probably as capable (or at least, not as costly) in Nomar Garciaparra and Andy LaRoche. It never really made sense for the Dodgers to be interested in Inge anyway. Will he get the point that his value in baseball isn’t quite the same as his value in his head?
Inge was a fan favorite, of course. You had to enjoy his defense, though you snicker at his comments. But judging by comments around the different forums (Mlive, Motown Tigers) or on newspaper stories, and you see that he is quickly burning that bridge, too. It’s probably a good time for Inge to step back and think about things a bit.
As David Mayo wrote at the Grand Rapids Press, Inge is wasting a golden opportunity to play for a title contender. (Meanwhile, some guys, say, Bobby Higginson, never got to play on a .500 team.)
How difficult for Brandon Inge that if he doesn’t explain his displeasure with his utility status for the Detroit Tigers, the media let him have it, and if he does explain, the fans do.
The negative comments to Inge’s latest complaint piled up on our Web site Monday, as all but his most ardent protectors finally come around.
I have to admit, I may have supported Inge, but I’m sorta sick of his attitude, too. It’s time to catch or play backup or whatever it asked. Make yourself a good team player, and maybe a team will want you. But what kind of team wants a guy who doesn’t even want to be on a contender? If anything says “doesn’t want to win,” it’s that. And frankly, I don’t need guys like that on the team I root for, either.

Yeah, it would be nice if BINGE (Because I’m Not Good Enough) would get some humility and STFU, but it ain’t gonna happen, because he is a complete bonehead.
