Yeah. I figured you'd be pro him starting in Erie, too. Although, now that I'm thinking about it, I'd like to amend my earlier statements on having Grandy move instead of Maybin. I'm now officially split. I think the transition would be easier for Curtis then Maybin (who has never played any OF spot other then Center since as a kid the best athletes are pitchers, SS's, CFers in little league and throughout high school) but then again Granderson was tied with Ichiro among the top CFers defensively in baseball. It's quite the quandary but doesn't become relevant if Maybin struggles. His immense GB tendacies still leave me skeptical in the back of my mind.

You're right Mike, I totally blew up the second question by not answering it. I'm all for Erie to start too. No reason to push up to Toledo right away.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I'm pro Granderson moving as Maybin's arm is worse then Granderson and Grandy seems to possess a somewhat slightly above-average arm which is better utilized from the corner outfield spot. Not to mention that Maybin hasn't ever played a corner outfield spot in his life and Granderson played it in the Tigers organization when people said he couldn't play CF.

The part on Maybin is kind of redundant question(s). He is barely 20. Of course he needs time in the minors -- a full year and maybe another half a year after that -- before he's fully ready. Him and guys like Justin Upton (and BJ Upton a few years ago) get rushed for no reason whatsoever. But at least, Justin Upton was wrecking top leagues. I didn't understand Maybin being brought up to Detroit in the least considering there was Granderson, Magglio, Thames, Raburn, Infante, and even Timo Perez to play the outfield.

Maybin needs to start in Erie and stay for as long as it takes him to put up numbers we expect from someone with his tools. If that means 3/4ths of the year in Erie before moving up to Toledo, then so be it. I actually wouldn't be opposed to him spending a month in Lakeland (until the weather warms in Erie) and then spending the rest of the year in Erie. I don't get the rush for teams to hurry kids to the show when they're 20 years old. The detriments outweigh the benefits in my eyes.

I wish people would let the Pena thing go. It was time for both parties to move on. The odds are good that this was his career year, and won't put up crazy numbers again.

It'd be great if Holliman stepped up, but I don't see it happening. He's getting to the point, especially age-wise, where he's no longer part of the solution, so to speak.

With you all the way on Rivera.

Despite re-signing Pudge, the catching scares me. There's no other way to put it.

I agree with you on Maybin, he should be playing a corner outfield position in the AFL, and for at least half a season in Erie. Bring him up in September 08, and make him your starting LF in 2009.
