I'll add your blog to the sidebar today. The reason for Verlander's increase in strikeouts, I don't really know. He's more mature and experienced though, so that probably helps. Baseball Prospectus had a piece on him last year that showed he didn't pitch for strikeouts unless he needed strikeouts. If nobody was on base, he just pitched to get the ball in play, but a guy on third, he'd go for the K. That sorta thing. Maybe he gave it up and just pitches for the K more.
