My kingdom for five more Kennys

These five things we Tigers fans know.
- Justin Verlander doesn’t give up a lot of hits to the Milwaukee Brewers.
- Or runs to anyone else.
- Todd Jones is teh devil in Prada.
- Whatever that means
- Kenny Rogers needs to be multiplied by five.
I’m not sure what I’d do with the extra Kennys. Maybe one or two in the starting rotation, possibly one to play short stop when Carlos Guillen needs a day off, and probably one as a closer, even if he’s a soft tosser.
The point is, Kenny Rogers is awesome. He pitched six innings, allowing his first run since Oct. 2. I’m not sure if we can credit Rogers for stopping the skid. Maybe we should just credit the bullpen for not blowing it. Whateve, the Tigers couldn’t afford to lose a third game to Texas, and Rogers and the rest of the team came through.
Even the bullpen. Jones even pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the ninth. Chad Durbin stumbled a bit bridging the gap between Rogers and Jones, but did good enough and gave the rest of the aching, tired, ineffective pen the day off. Now he has a hold to go with his save in two appearances this year.
On the offensive end of things, Craig Monroe is struggling so bad Sean Casey was intentionally walked twice to get to him. I’m pretty sure that’s twice more than the Rangers would have done if Mike Maroth was pitching… And Carlos Guillen drove in another two runs and Gary Sheffield hit another home run.
The Tigers play the Twins today…
… with Sheffield. But Saturday and Sunday he will serve his suspension.
