Tigers fail to bottle offense for tomorrow

So, yah. That happened. Wow. They hit and hit and hit and even Sean Casey hit a home run — his first. Marcus Thames, of course, saw what Casey could do and one-upped it. Or maybe, three-upped it, as he hit it into the upper deck in left field. That ball just kept oin going.
But really, that wasn’t of much interest to me. At some point in a blowout, you sorta zone out with all the scoring going on.
What interested me was finally seeing “Frankie” De La Cruz pitch. He quickly worked a ground out, then got a strikeout swinging, then a strikeout looking, and the ninth inning was over quick. Really, man, how do you expect the Tigers to get a good look at you when you insist on getting three outs so quickly? Don’t you realize you could have given up 13 runs because the ninth inning is pass or fail? But no, in all seriousness, DLC got two looks in two days because I’m sure it’s part of the decision-making process, and by my eye, he passed. He located pretty well, had a nice changeup and mid-90s fastball, and obviously was too much for the Nats.
Chad Durbin was too, of course. He cemented what I think is his place in the starting rotation. I’m pretty sure he’s going to be the starter Monday — Eric thinks he should be, anyway. As do I.
The Tigers look for the sweep tomorrow night with Jeremy Bonderman on the mound.
