Bunt Singles: Tigers choose Byrdak
posted in 2007 season, bunt singles |The Freep’s Jon Paul Morosi is reporting the Tigers will purchase the contract of Tim Byrdak from Toledo as Joel Zumaya’s fill-in. For now anyway.
Morosi writes this makes sense as Byrdek is a lefty and the Red Sox are pretty tough on right-handed pitching. I have to think this is a short term move, or I have to think the Tigers brass are nuts. Bydek is no spring chicken at 33. He’s been unable to stick with any major league team for too long. In 66 innings he has a career ERA of 7+, a walk per inning and an OPS against of .900+. He’s pitching better in AAA, but this isn’t AAA. - Craig Monroe talks about what his mother means to him with Jason Beck. You may remember he hit a home run with her in attendance in New York City last season after taking her to a Broadway show.
