Bunt Singles: Tigers choose Byrdak

posted in 2007 season, bunt singles |

The Freep’s Jon Paul Morosi is reporting the Tigers will purchase the contract of Tim Byrdak from Toledo as Joel Zumaya’s fill-in. For now anyway.

Morosi writes this makes sense as Byrdek is a lefty and the Red Sox are pretty tough on right-handed pitching. I have to think this is a short term move, or I have to think the Tigers brass are nuts. Bydek is no spring chicken at 33. He’s been unable to stick with any major league team for too long. In 66 innings he has a career ERA of 7+, a walk per inning and an OPS against of .900+. He’s pitching better in AAA, but this isn’t AAA. In short, I like Morosi, but I seriously hope he heard some bad information on this, because that is exactly not the guy I want facing David Ortiz in a close, late game.

Mothers day thoughts

I don’t know about you guys and gals, but I took care of my mom on Mother’s Day with my homemade 6-pound Lasagna. Even gave a bit to the grandmother across the street. Some Tigers have given their thoughts on Mother’s day too.
