Playoff update
posted in The Stretch Run |Oakland clinched the final spot in the American League and their first AL West crown since 2003. With that, the AL playoffs teams were set: Detroit, Oakland, Minnesota, New York.
Yankees won their game, they’re still tied with the Tigers for the best record in the AL but own the tiebreaker. So Detroit trails by one.
Twins beat KC, so they’re still effectively two games behind Detroit for the AL Central title. Detroit’s magic number is 4.
Finally, a big Congrats A’s! I know, I’m a Tigers fan, I shouldn’t say that, but they’re my secondary team and I’m glad they’re back in the playoffs.

Glad to see the A’s make it, I have a hard time rooting against teams that can win without throwing money at big name free agents. With that being said, I got a chance to see 2 Tigers games this year. I saw the Tigers play against Oakland at Oakland while I was out there for a work trip and I got a chance to see the Tigers play at home against the Yankees. Both games were very good and exciting (Yankees game went to extras), but unfortunately the Tigers dropped them both. Since I am bad luck I vow to not go to a Tigers game this year in the playoffs! LOL. I was also going to try and get over to Minneapolis for to see a few games from a Tigers-Twins series, but it just didn’t work out for me. Overall, it is not too bad though, I saw all of 2 games this year, but I saw 3 of the 4 playoff teams.
